How a Wholesale Flower Auction Evolved into a Digital and Online Flower Market

Once called Christensen's Flower Auction, it became a fully digital online platform in June 2019, marking the start of the digital future of FLOWERHUB.

The Story

The Christensen Family, a fourth-generation flower family with Danish roots, founded FLOWERHUB. The Christensen name has been in business in Australia since 1981 and has grown to be a premium floral brand. The family launched Christensen's Flower Auction, Australia's first flower auction, in 1995. It has changed over the past 24 years to become what FLOWERHUB is now.

The Challenge

After having a solid market presence in Brisbane, FLOWERHUB's founders wanted to digitize their business processes and increase their sales through an online presence. There is no access to supporting customers outside the workplace, and it is impossible to acquire new customers from different areas online. FLOWERHUB has been using a paper-based system and workbooks that require manual data entry, which is time-consuming and inefficient.

The challenge FLOWERHUB faced is like many other wholesale flower businesses:

  • Receiving late invoices from suppliers that are happening every month
